Biography of The Cleveland Rocket Society

The Cleveland Rocket Society was established in January, 1933 by Ernst Loebell and E.L. Hanna. One of the first American groups to study and perform experiments with liquid-propelled rockets, this Cleveland, Ohio organization designed and constructed six rocket engines in five years. At the invitation of the French Ministry of Commerce and Industry, The Cleveland Rocket Society sent a scale model rocket as part of their exhibit in the 1937 Paris International Exhibition. The organization grew to include 100 members before it disbanded in 1938.
